The deal was: John Gardner was taken in by Richard Walton, a charismatic Christian, and this caused a philosophical rift amongst the faculty, administration and parents. Those sympathetic to John Gardner (and perhaps Walton) left, and those against stayed. The school lost many good teachers, students and families in this process, but the biggest crime was that in all this nonsense, "adults" on both sides only gave lip service to the welfare of the students/children. In their quest to save/change/improve the school, both sides were more interested in being "right," than in the reality of students losing their teachers, class advisers, etc. Our class suffered the worst fallout from the Richard Walton mess, and NO ONE ever apologized to us! NO ONE ever sought to make it right. One day our mentors, teachers, advisers were there, the next day they were gone. Just like that. Instead of treating us like a group of sensitive, intelligent, young adults with strong attachments to our teachers and advisers, we were just "collateral damage." It was like being molested by a parent who then pretends nothing happened. Nothing happened. Yeah, right. Or in the infamous words of Peter Curran, "life goes on." F**k you! Our class doesn't have reunions for a reason. We hate Waldorf and how we were treated there. Yet, they still try to solicit money from us several times a year. They have no shame, no conscience, and refuse to take responsibility for the consequences of their actions. Consequences our class lives with today. Rudolf Steiner is still rolling in his grave. May they all rot in hell. Both sides.
